Exhaust popping due to bad O2 sensors?

I have a custom true dual exhaust system with an x-pipe. There is more info in my sig. I have some popping in my exhaust that is really annoying me. It does not happen at wide open throttle or cruising at a decent RPM. It only happens at idle or very low RPMs or deceleration. Could bad O2 sensors be causing this? I have pretty much ruled out an exhaust leak, so does anyone have any other ideas?

Popping exhaust is usually a sign of running rich, and that can be caused by O2 sensors. That may not be the problem in your case though, but it's certainly a possibility.

Other than the O2s being bad, what could cause the car to run rich?

An exhaust leak will cause it to pop also.

I'm pretty sure there are no leaks. I have water coming out of the exhaust tips when I really get on it, but there are no drips anywhere on the pipes. I'm beginning to think its just the duals.

If you read the owner's manual, you will see that a slight popping noise in the exhaust is considered normal...

But it could be from runnig a little too rich on deceleration or idle...

the popping comes I believe from the decelleration fuel cutoff built into the computer, basically cuts off fuel flow to the engine when you start slowing down. Its perfectly normal and I haven't seen an LT1 yet that doesn't do it. Its MUCH more pronounced when you have a free flowing exhaust.

A vaccuum leak can also cause the popping, check all your vaccuum hoses for dry rot.
