exhaust decision

before anybody starts yelling lol i know the search function exists and I use it but sometimes i like asking questions myself. it is however called a messageboard not a searchboard hehe.

so anyway i am thinking of getting MAC shorty headers and probaby a offroad pipe instead of cat but one thing i can not figure out is the rest of the exhaust to finish it off. i want a catback system that sounds good and great power. i dont want something that is too loud or raspy or whatever. i want somethin that at idle is a nice deep rumble and when you open her up something that is pretty loud but a nice loud not raspy.

was wondering if the MAC cat back systems are any good? i hear people say flowmaster is a nice sound but performance sucks so thats out of the question i think. slp LM will give lots of power but is really loud and probably sounds like crap. corsa and borla are nice but too expensive.

any sound files or recommendations would be great especially the people that have MAC shorties and offroad pipe. would really like to know what you guys like or have.

If you have the money I would get the Corsa for what you want. It is relatively quiet idle and moderate under acceleration, and nice sounding at WOT, but overall good hp gain and sound. Now if you want deepness and clear then go GMMG, but it is very loud, no not raspy, but deep.

anything cheaper and still decent sounding. things are really expensive for us canadians hehe. what about the hooker cat-back. seems really cheap. does it sound alright and perform alright or junk?

I was wondering the same

Im going to be running the same headers with an OR pipe pretty soon. I was thinking of just keeping my cutout instead of going with a catback. Anyone know howd it sound? Do headers generally make the exhaust sound deeper?

I think the best systems (IMO) that meet your criteria (and price) would be Magnaflow, Hooker, SLP 2OTL and you might even look into a Dynomouth (search LS1 section). I have been considering a change myself when I do headers. I may try a Dynomax Bullet muffler on my Loudmouth (Dynomouth), since I already have it. If that doesn't work out, I'll order up the Magnaflow. At any rate, there are some very nice systems to choose from in the under $500. range. Good luck.

well i want a nice sounding exhaust for everyday driving. dont really want to have a cut out open all the time cause i think it would be too loud and just seems like it would sound like crap hehe.

I think the SLP 2OTL has a great sounding rumble to it(and it looks very unique too). Not quiet, not loud. Good price too.

Or I'd recommend the Hooker if you "must" have the dual outlet look. Maybe a bit quieter than the 2OTL, but also has a great sound.

Both of those systems will flow very good as well.

yea the SLP 2OTL seems cool except where on the T/A it has those spots for the tips then it would kinda look weird you know hehe.
