Angry Mayday!!!!,mayday!!!!!

I need to know an answer, if you were to put a 160 degree thermo in a stock 93 camaro z28 M6, what would it run like?? i have one in there right now and it is stuttering bad!!! i took it to the dealership and they told me it was wires, so i changed the wires and nothing changed, i also changed my coil out, still not difference. This is really bugging me seeing that it is under warranty and they keep giving me the run-around. I had the computer replaced at the dealership also, so that rules that out. I have no idea what it could be... it is also making a wierd noise on the driverside of the engine compartment while in higher RPM's. I have worked on cars for quite a while now, but i have no idea what this is, Oh yeah and another thing, were is the Knock senser located at?

Thanx much
Dan

Sounds like your opti-spark distributor is about to take a dump on you. Those POS things are VERY sensitive about having **** spilled on them, especially the non-vented 93-94 opti's. Ten bucks says that when the thremo was installed a little coolant went all over the opti and helped it along its way down death road. It was probably on its way out any way. Take it back to the dealer and refuse to take the car back until its fixed with a new opti good luck~~`rob

Knock sensor

It would be nice if your warranty would buy you a new opti. The thermostat is not going to cause those problems, aside from what Trans-Am said about getting the opti wet when installing it.

It's always been on the right side of the block.

But i here a popping noise coming from the drivers side, could that help at all, good thing i bought the good warranty with the car, it covers almost everything. "bumper to bumper" so called

before you do an opti-

change your plugs, wires and coil-
THEN do the opti

I had a BAD sputtering problem and would hear a weird poping sound coming from the drivers side of the engine bay.. i dont know what the popping was but the sputtering was caused by my fuel pump. the sock around it is crudded up. does the stuttering happen when you have a little more than a 1/4 of a tank of gas... fill it all the way and see if it still happens.

I see what you are saying, but they also show item 122 to be the block plug. Obviously, both of them cannot go in the same hole. They do not show a view of the RH side of the block, so I am guessing this is just the way they decided to do it.

Let me just add something else to check for. You claim you did the wire. O.K. but check to see if you put them in the right firing order, also you say you hear some nosie check for a loose spark plug.

the noise could be a wire arcing or a loose spark plug. i'd guess the stuttering could be because of the wire arcing if thats what the noise is.

well so far i have changed the plugs and wires and coil plus a new coil wire. The only thing i can limit it to be is fuel or OPTI, i may possibly be a backed up cat, but wont it give me a code for a backed up cat, and fuel being low on pressure?? It gave me a code on my 91 RS for lean o2. Well thank you so much everyone, your comments sure have been very helpfull.
