Re: Is this exhaust BIG enough? Big Mama inside

I heated it with a torch and bent it little by little as not to tear that thin metal. It tore anyway and had to weld it all up(fun fun) no easy task on that thin metal. Then we sanded it and fiberglassed the inside to give it some strength and painted it inside and out.

I will get David to post the pictures, but it will be tomorrow as his lights are out.

Very nice. One of the best I have seen. I bet there is no back pressure with that set up.

Looks good! My exhaust uses that same 2-1 style flowmaster connector.

Looks like you guys copied my 3 years old seltup .

I'd love to see pics of the inside of the car, because I know mine hung LOW - you must have it tucked way up in there. Don't need a heater anymore, eh?

Well, not "way" up but the bottom of the pipe is a tad above the bottom of the floor pan.

"Heater-- what heater-- the headers were also modified to fit. They are 1-7/8" Hedman. It still has the air and the big heater box on the pass side. None of that has been changed.

It's called custom fit by R&D Racing.

I am going to test it when it gets running. Shouldn't be much at all.

Thanks for the compliment.

Did you guys modify the collectors "up?" I ran my Ypipe directly off of the headers (tried to get the Ypipe higher, but it wasn't happening by the time I was finished.

Hey, I can appreciate the work it takes to make Hedman headers work. Been there, done that. I chpped my #1 to get the power steering workin'. Ran out of $team on my project tho. You know the story on that, LR .

R&D Racing? (Old) Ross & David?

Only on the drivers side as it was pointing down. Made it level with the car and fit things up.Had to mod the brace that it has to go by under the seat.
Headers were moded for steering and air/heater box clearance.

Ain't out of steam yet 'cause it ain't finished.

Ya got the OLD part right, but not TOO old.

Very nice!

I also used a flowmaster Y in my exhaust (3" to 2-2 1/2"), but I used it at the rear-end, with each side going to basically the same muffler you have, a straight thru magnaflow (4" dia x 14"L), so it looks like duals from the back. It sounds pretty good, actually wish it was a little quieter, it has a lot of bass. My midpipe is a single 3". The flp y-merge coming from the cats was modified to make it bigger.

Wow, that looks awesome!

Besides a welder... what kind of tools did you need to do that job?

Looks good guys. It will take quite a few tools and some good fab work to do something similar. I brought the all the parts: 3" x-pipe, mufflers, mandrel bends and pipe to a local muffler shop and the guys fab a true dual with x-pipe. I will have to take some pics for you guys. Later Clint

Ryan how much power did you make through your old setup? What kind of muffler was on it? Did it make any more power un capped?
