Everyone with a Meizere E-Water Pump, Please participate in the poll

How many of you have had one of their Electric Water Pumps go out on you?

How many miles did it last?

Did you think it was a worthwhile mod?

23,000 miles and still going...no problems and I think it's a worthwhile mod.

Re: Everyone with a Meizere E-Water Pump, Please participate in the poll

I have had two failures with my waterpump.

BUT, in all fairness I feel it was due to my crappy wiring abilities at the time. If I had to guess the issue both times were due to not enough juice to them...brownout failures.

Put a relay into the setup and I feel you should be fine.

BOTH times though Meizerre took care of me with no question.

I've had mine for two years and 40,000 miles, and it's performed fine. I just have it wired through a relay to ignition ON power, so any time the key is on the pump is running. No problems so far!

I have had mine for two years and about 20K and it seems to still be working fine though I don't know if it was worth the money but it has to help some.

Well, that settles it.

Looks like I will be getting myself an electric water pump then.

How did you wire it up that it wasnt getting enough juice? I'm no wiring experts, but I can read directions well haha Whats the best way to wire it up? I kind of figured the smartest was to do it that it was on with the Ignition, like someone said, but what were you talking about wiring it with its own relay ?

I dont have a Mez buy my CSR has around 35,000 on it. No matter which one it is, I think they are a worth while mod.

Re: Everyone with a Meizere E-Water Pump, Please participate in the poll

I have one, but don't really fit into any one of the categories.

My Meziere pump actually died one day on the way to work. The temp got up to about 250*, and I pulled over. I sat there for about 5-10 minutes, then when I turned the ignition on to get a temp reading, mysteriously the pump came on. I watched my temp gauge drop rapidly from 250-almost the bottom line on the gauge and two weeks later I had a blown headgasket resulting from a warped head.

I had it wired to the high current accessory wire at the underhood fuse panel. I found that the snap on connector included with the kit was somewhat melted and corroded, but the inline fuse elsewhere in the wiring was ok. I cut the connector off and crimped it together and it has worked fine since but I'm still leery of it.

I have a brand new GM waterpump for sale (see sig) if anyone reading this needs one.

Re: Everyone with a Meizere E-Water Pump, Please participate in the poll

I first installed mine in 1999. I used it until last month and put 50,000 miles on it. I noticed that it was getting noisy like the bearings were going bad so I bought a new one a few weeks ago and changed it. The reason I went electric was because I had three stock WP's fail. They only lasted a year or so then would leak from the weephole. There have have been something else causing it but I just went to an electric and never looked back.

My brand new GM unit failed in less than a year, I was expecting 5-10 years. The same reason I went Electric.

Re: Everyone with a Meizere E-Water Pump, Please participate in the poll

I daily drive my car an average of 20,000 a year with a CSR. I'd look for the thread where I posted a link to the only good warning system for these pumps.

Mines on a switch and I actually like it that way. Although I feel like a pilot starting my car everyday, flipping switches all over the place.
