ET Streets for 16" rim, any tired them?

Hey guys. I am thinking about a set of ET streets for both of my F-bodies to share for track duty! Anyone have any idea how well they work? I heard they are DOT approved but still considered a slick at the track?

Also, I have Jegs boltin Driveshaft safety loop. It lists '82-'02 F-body. On the LT1, where exactly do I bolt this into? I bought it for the third gen, but seems to list that it'll work on both. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

The ET Streets are a slightly harder compound than the ET Drags but perform almost as well. They are DOT legal because of the tread grooves cut in them. You will be really happy with a set of these tires.

I have a set of the 26x11.5x16 mounted on stock 5-spoke Firebird rims to match the rest of my wheels. They fit fine.

I used the 26x11.5-16 ET Streets on 16x9.5" CenterLine wheels. Provided very good traction with 500HP NA motor.

The recommended rim width for the 10.5 tires is 9", and for 11.5 tires is 10". The stock rim (8") might be a little narrow for the 26x11.5" tires.

Whether they are considered "slicks" depends on what class you are racing in. The typical F-Body event seems to seperate cars into "street tire" classes - radials and drag radials; and "slicks" - DOT's like ET Streets, Hoosier QTP's, or real slicks like ET Drags, etc. If you get into the "real street", "extreme street" or even NHRA "stock", the DOT's are considered "street tires".

Avoid using them on the street.... they are squirlly in the dry, slippery as goose **** on wet roads, and the soft compound picks up all the dirt and pebbles and blasts the side of your car.

I was looking at getting that one, there was a thread about it a week or so ago. It apparently works fine in a 4th gen but you have to drill your own holes in the floor to mount it, it doesnt mount in the stock crossbrace location like the other more expensive ones.

Thanks for your replies. I'll have to take the carpet out then!

But it hopefully does not shatter the rear end on the first day

Amen to that, they feel like driving on inner tubes when cornering, and they pick up all the trash and become slick unless you clean them often and my neighbors frowned on that
