Estimation/Advice Request...
About to seriously order a set of AFR 195cc LT4 Heads (58cc) for my 355. This was based upon figures given to AFR on a few other combos, including cam (GM 847), Long tubes, no smog, 30lb SVO injectors, 6-speed w/4.10 gears.
My question is, without knowing certain other particular to plug into the website's calculator, does anybody have a combo close to this running optimum to get a prediction of about what RWHP I should expect? Also, any suggestions on a comparitively close (but cheaper) combo would be nice as well, or if to go bigger cam etc. Just advice really. PCM tuning will be done upon completion of the install, which will be done by myself and a couple friends. I've waited now for a couple years to do the engine on this car, and that time has finally come, so I'd like to do this right the first time. Thanks!

The AFR's are great heads no doubt, but it depends on what your goals are. You can take the best parts and build a motor and it might not make the power you hoped for. In my opinion, its the combination of the right selected parts that will reward you with the power you want.
I would suggest keeping your stock castings and having them ported by a reputable professional. Those AFR's out of the box will not perform better than a set of ported stock heads. Also, you'll be saving some $$$ which could be spent on a custom cam. The GM847 cam does make great power for an off the shelf cam, but you can make more power with a custom grind to match your combo.
The above set up combined with all the required bolt ons and a good dyno tune should make over 400hp to the rear wheels. If you do a search you'll discover what others are making with similiar combos and who to contract the work out to.
Good Luck!

Hey I appreciate that STAR, thanks!
Yeah, I have a couple projects in the works, I may be selling the LT4 'Hawk, and finally finishing the '95, and I've been back and forth on whether or not to spend the $ on the AFR's or go w/stock ported, etc.
Since I was not planning on building a stroker motor out of this short block just yet, it just seemed like one of the best directions to go w/it. Thanks for your info, it is indeed helpful (and possibly saving me a lot of $).
