Error Codes... what do they mean?

hey, here are my error codes...

P1642
P1641
P0366
P0335
P0336

scanner said something about the crankshaft position sensor ... does this mean its not hooked up correctly? or maybe malfunctioning?

if i just need to get a new crank position sensor and that's it - that'd be a big relief .... this is just after my opti install. Could this also be a symptom of a cylinder not firing or misfiring?

thanks!

P1641 and P1642 are for the fan control relays. Maybe you have a fan switch? If it does not have the proper resistors wired in, it will throw codes when you use it with the key ON.

P0335 and P0336 are for the crank position sensor. It or it's wiring might have a problem or several other things, including excessive timing gear and chain wear.

P0366 does not exist, AFAIK.

The sensor has no bearing on engine control. It is only there for misfire detection. Now, if it was really detecting excess timing gear/chain wear, that might be your problem.

On my 3.8 Camaro, I had several ingition problems with it. A lot of times, along with the misfire codes, it would throw the crank shaft position sensor code. It had nothing to do with the sensor itself, just the bad miss the car had.

Since this is right after an Opti install, I'm guessing this is something related to the ignition. Double check everything that was done during the install (not an easy task, but gotta be done).

As for the code that doesnt exist. That's strange, the only time I've heard of that happening is on my friend's Blazer. He called autozone to ask what a code was and they said it didnt exist. It turned out his chip had fallen out! lol

Good luck with whatever the problem may be.
