I had posted several weeks ago about the error code of the distributor. I believe that it is 1371 error code saying that the signals from the distrbutor is weak, or the pulses are.

People mentioned it probably is the distributor going bad, but the distr is farely new. I was wondering what are all the electronics associated with that code that would kick it out. Would the cranshaft sensor help throw the code because were it gets put into the bottom of the front cover is leaking slightly. I no I need to take part of the car apart, but I want to at least have an idea of what it could be. Thanks!

Is the code P1371 or is it P0371?

P0371 is the high-resolution from the Opti too many pulses.

P1371 is the ICM 4X reference too few pulses.

P1371 = Distributor Ignition (DI) low resolution circuit

The PCM sets that code when it can not find the low resolution pulse pattern from the Opti optical sensor for 2 revolutions of the crankshaft. Its either a faulty optical sensor, corroded/damaged harness connector(s), a wiring problem between the sensor and thye PCM or a remote possibility of high voltage interference on the circuit.

 

It is the P1371. What happens is it can start will run for few minutes, then die. It then will not start and the P1371 code is on. I have reset the codes and it will basically do the same thing over again.
