Engine VERY sluggish after new Opti install

Ok, here's the deal. I finally got a new rebuilt Opti installed on my 1993 Z28. Install went fine - took a little while though (waiting on the new distro) Anyway - so it's back together now. When the car's running - the idle's great - sounds fine. But as soon as I give it any load, like revving the engine quickly, or stepping on it while moving, it makes this loud whistling sound with the engine - a real airy whistle, kinda sounds like a turbo spooling up. Eventually the sound dies off, and my car gradually loses power to what feels like *maybe* 150 hp. .. takes about 2 minutes or so. Feels like all the torque is gone - I tried accelerating in 4th at about 20 and there was nothing .. So anyway, I'm completely stumped. The oil pressure's fine, the clutch is fine, the engine temp remains fine - even when I get out after driving it, the engine doesnt smoke or anything - it smells a little hot, but thats about it. So please, someone, help!! I have to move quite a distance in a few weeks - so I dunno what to do!! Thanks

Sounds like a vacume leak to me. Check all of the hoses and lines around the intake and make sure everything is plugged in.

Here's a thought - if I didn't flush my radiator correctly after re installing everything - could this be caused by a hot engine? Even if the temp gauge reads 180 and doesnt fluxuate?

I need your brains people! I'm stumped!! I came up with something else to consider though - could this be caused by the new opti I just put in being bad? It's rebuilt .. But bought new .. so uhm .. yeah, I'm still stumped. HELP!!

!

Ok, just a little update - a friend suggested resetting the ECU - I tried that, it maybe gave me a slight improvement in power, but I'm still at about 60%. I'm going to get the coil checked out tomorrow - and I'm about to go check for error codes. As far as the noise, it goes away within a few minutes - is it possible that the new opti just makes that noise .. since it's new? I know *somebody* must have replaced their optispark and had something similar to this. I swear - I'm gonna figure it out on my own before I get any tips .. But I'd still love the input! I need to get it runnin right again! Yeah .. till the next update ..

Ok, I've seen 3 different posts with the same problem - loss of power after installing the new opti. Hasnt anyone run into this problem, or have some sort of solution? Anybody?????
