Engine Swap to VATS Question

Engine Swap to VATS Question

Hey guys,

Just wanted to ask before I try starting the car tonight and get disappointed. 94 3.4L v6 with a 95 engine, engine harness, and PCM.

Is the signal the VATS system checks for in the key tied to the VATS system under the dash or is that value stored in the PCM? In other words, now that I've done this swap, can I start the car with no issues or will the new PCM cause an issue with VATS?

We're going to put 24# injectors back in so we don't have to worry about the tune to start it but if the VATS system is going to disable fuel then it's no use.

Or, I guess another way of questioning it - if the VATS system doesn't want to allow the car to start, does the fuel pump still engage when the key is turned? We do hear the fuel pump, so hopefully that's a sign that VATS won't be an issue?

Maybe answered the question myself. I put the key in the ignition, put the key to "ON" and the "Security" light turns off after 4 seconds. We were also able to crank the car with the injectors and ignition fuse pulled so it wouldn't start with the 30# injectors so theoretically it should not be an issue right?

if the key is for the cars vats,,it should crank ok

The VATS has it's own module. It sends a signal to the PCM to allow fuel delivery. Since the light went out with the key ON, you should be ok.
