Engine swap Help questions
ok I have a 94 z28. I have a complete built motor out of a 96 z28 motor has le2 heads cam ect. I have the wiring engine wiring harness from the 96 as well as the computer. so when I put this motor from the 96 into the 94 what would be the easiest way parts wise to go with. what harness ect. then also with the new motor having the le2 heads a ported in take bigger throttle body, headers bigger injector ect being that it is obdI can I get a can tune or does anyone recomend away of getting it tuned. would it be possible to send the computer from the 96 with the dyno tune the gentleman had in it to a tuner and have them just burn me the same tune in a chip for my car? lots of questions and I thank you all in advance. thanks again look forward to your advice.
Re: Engine swap Help questions
One long sentence....
Anyway, if you know exactly what's been done to the engine, I'd install it in the 94 car using the 94 harness. You'll have to ignore the crankshaft position sensor...there is no connector for it on the 94 harness. You'll also have to switch the 96 knock sensor to the 94 part and use the short opti harness from the 96.
While you are installing the engine, send the PCM off to a mail order house to get a tune...
Good luck!

Re: Engine swap Help questions
I'd use the 94s computer and harness and keep it OBD-I. The 96 is OBD-II. I is cheaper to tune (much cheaper if you decide to get into DIY tuning). Check out the tuning services of Madtuner, PCMforless and others you might find mentioned in the computer/diagnostic forums. Your computer can be mailed in or you can load your own tune with the right accessories. They do flash tunes-no chips for 94 up.
