Engine Swap

i have a 84 z28 with a carbed 383 pushing roughly 375 and i was wondering what all i would need to swap the motor into a 93-97 Z28 (wasn't sure what to post this under but figured since im mainly asking what would happen with the lt1's body it would belong here)

Re: Engine Swap

You would need the complete LT1 engine, complete wiring harness and PCM. Your fuel system would have to be able to supply the required fuel flow in a recirculated system at 43.5psi. Not sure if there is a way to bolt up the M5, or whether the M5 would hold up to the power you are after. Ideally, a T56 and complete clutch/hydraulics, and bellhousing from an LT1 would make things a lot easier.

Re: Engine Swap

If you do decide to go with the swap you should definately go with the t56 tranny. My friend had a 93 t/a and decided to swap in a t5 and dump his auto. He went through 3 t5 trannys in a year but then again he has a lead foot and beat the hell out of that thing. He kept getting the t5s instead of the t56 cause he got really good deals on them instead of doing it right and getting a t56. He blew his engine up and junked the car while the 4th t5 was in.

Re: Engine Swap

It would probably be safe to get an entire drivetrain, I don't know if you have a drum or disc rearend on your third gen, but if you have drum brakes, a 4th gen rearend with disc brakes would be another upgrade in itself.

Thanks man! I thought that I was flipping-out, since nobody else seemed to read it that way!
