Engine Rebuild Dyno Numbers

I've just had my mechanic rebuild my engine with a new block, heads, etc.. after I finish breaking her in i'm going to take her to a dyno. What should I expect on a new rebuild (HP/TQ). Its an A4. I wan't to make sure shes running all right, how low would be too low for a new reubild (ie. head back to my mechanic and let him know somethings wrong). What would be a rough estimate of the power i should be making? I have a K&N CAI as the only real mod...

U have to provide a lot more information. Did he just replace everything with stock replacement? what is everything that was replaced?

Everything was rebuilt with the stock replacments. Opti, injectors intake, exhaust are the same. The block, valves, heads, cam, timing chain etc are all new.

Remember that when you dyno a green motor it will pull low. Don't be suprised if after 5-10k that you pull 10-15 more RWHP.

Thanks for the replies.... What else should i expect with a new motor? Will she run hotter from more friction? Should i drive shorter/longer trips? Does it really not matter all that much so long as i don't get on it? This is my first car.. and the first time ive had a car with a "green" engine. Hopefully its not too silly a question.

Proper break in is always important. 3 20 minute sessions of 2-3k before you drive it... I promote the beating the snot out of it after the first hour but that is a widely debated topic. Personally I have never had any motors run hotter about the only thing I would suggest is bring some coolant, oil and basic hand tools when you do drive. No matter how good it is, in the first 100 miles if one hose clamp wasn't perfectly tight you will find out LOL I have once or twice.

SBCs are durable and there is no reason to be paraoid about your new motor. Enjoy it and remember to not sit at a constant RPM for prolong peroids of time - you will do just fine
