Engine pull out the top w/o discharging a/c
Is it possible to pull the engine out the top without losing the a/c refrigerant? Has anybody done it? Did a search couldn't find any info.
If so what has to be striped off the front?
The transmission, clutch, and rad are removed.
I will be using the happy hooker from TPIS.
The car is a 1997 T/A.

Yes, it can come out the top with out any problem. Remove the ac compressor from engine and tie it out of the way. I remove the balancer hub and water pump, and it lifts out fine, the radiator also has to be removed. Watch out for the engine hitting the AC condensor. Just be careful and it will come right out.

In hindsight, I'm going to drop the K-Member, and put everything back up togother (engine, tranny, headers etc.)

I have done it 6-7 times.
Never a PITA.
Where dave made the mistake is he left the manifolds on. If you take them off(easy) you lift the motor and come forward then turn the motor 90* and pull the rest of the way out. I have yet to pull the hood off my car
Good luck man!
