Tranny Install...HELP FAST PLEASE!?!?!

I'm trying to bolt the tranny up to the bell housing right now. But for some reason we can't get the 2 tabs that are on the tranny to go into the holes on the bellhousing. We have been trying for 1hr. They line up but just don't seem to go in. The tranny is about 1/4 inch away from the bellhousing. Do you think it would be okay to use the bolt to pull it together? Please need some help fast. Thanks.

first off, do not use bolts to force it in...said that, it needs to be go in by itself without force.

Try this if you havent yet, pull tranny out about 1" till you can get your hand in there....spin the input shaft a little bit...then try it again, it should bolt right up, if not try repeating that

i'm assuming you used a proper alignement tool to make sure the clutch is in place and centered

just keep wiggling it around, eventually it will go in...

Technically you aren't supposed to, but I did. 7k miles and 50-60 1/4 mile passes later and it's fine. Mine wouldn't go the last 3/8" or so, so I put all the bolts in and turned them 1/2 a turn at a time alternating back and forth. I tried for an hour before I did that, and it went in without much effort on the bolts at all. If you feel much resistance at all stop, because something is wrong. Make sure you go a little at a time and run the bolts down evenly. Also make sure the gap is the same all the way around the tranny before you decide to try that, it might just be lined up wrong.

I used a clutch allignment tool. I left it in there untill i had the PP all tightened up then i took it out. I just have no idea why it won't go in any further. I gotta get it done tonight since i need the car for tomarrow.

Did you try what i told you? Spinning the input shaft then seeing if it will bolt on?

Best thing to do is take a 15min brake, drink a beer and try agian.
