buddy of mine heard it and says exhaust leak... blown header gasket........ well i don't think so....... the ticking gets faster when i hit the gas and get the rpms up and then it's a tick right with the idle when idling....

I would atleast check your rear manifold bolts...but I have something along the same lines going on and its retarding my timing but nobody seems to have any idea what the issue is.

From what i thought a exaust leak tick could be picked up from the knock sensor and that could retard your timing. Someone correct me if im wrong.

It could be a number of things such as an exhaust leak at the header, a loose rocker, or even (ugh!) a cam going flat. I have experienced all three. The header flange leak is the most common tick or psst sound.

You can get a stethescope tool from any Autozone or Advance Auto, etc for about $11. You might be able to isolate the location of the ticking. Place the tip on each header primary tube, each valve cover, etc to try to narrow it down.
