So i was getting on the freeway on July 4 after picking up my girlfriend and half way home my car died on the freeway.i was going about 65 in 5th gear so i down shifted and gave it a bit more gas and when i did that i felt something pop or break. i felt that through my steering wheel. And know when you turn the car on theres a klnoc and sounds like a whine also. i took it to the shop today and they really didnt get underneath the hood but they think its the lower end and that the motor going out. Someone please fill me in and tell me its not the motor and something minor.

 

A good indication of a motor's health is it's oil pressure. How's your oil pressure when this happened?

 

When you start the engine, the AIR pump should start. That could explain the whine. Hard to believe a shop would attempt to diagnose a "klnoc" without popping the hood. Makes no sense at all.

 

with bottom end problems the motor will usually knock or have a thump sound with squeeking like a rusty door hinge when it idles. Very noticeable and usually unmistakable.

Is it leaking any fluid?
Will it start and idle?
How much oil pressure do you have?
How does it run? Does it have any power?
Is your service engine soon light on?

 

i take it the car runs, so its knocking all the time now? agree with above what the oil pressure? is it jumping up and down? if you can, lets hear a recording.

 

I believe the day of my oil pressure did start to move up and down. when i would gas it the oil pressure would go down but when i let off the gas slowly it went up. but it usually never went down if anything it would go up. I do have a minor oil leak now. The car still drives and everything but it doesnt have close to as much power as it should. Also my 02 sensor that connected to my intake broke. it sounds like the whole car is broken

 

There are no "02 sensors" connected to your intake. The only sensors on the intake duct are the IAT and the MAF. Both of them need to be connected.

You say the oil pressure went down then up, how far down did it go? The more info we have here the better.

Out of curiousity, what type and grade engine oil did you use on yours??
