Engine is finally in the car!

Thanks to my good buddy Nick we were able to get the engine in the car. It has been a long time coming. I will work on trying to get the Longtube Hookers in there tomorrow and get everything else bolted into place. Should have it running by Friday.

Here are some pictures with it in the car finally. The car is really dirty, its been sitting for a year.

That black intake and bowtie valve covers look great. How come you didn't put the long tubes on when the motor was out? Just curious as it seems like it would be easier...maybe not so much easier to put the motor back in if you're coming in from the top?

The heads are LE2 heads from Lloyd elliot. Thanks for the compliment on the valve covers. I didnt think there would be enough room to fit the engine and the headers in through the top all at once. It was a tight enough fit already. I didnt want to press my luck. I am going to try and jack the car up some more and see if I can put them in from the bottom.

The way you needed to do that was to put the headers already in the engine bay and let them ay to the side of the engine bay and puttig the motor between them. I would have had the headers int he engine bau already, its ALOT easier.

Well, I still have the engine hoist until 5:30pm tonight, so it still may be an option. If I can grab another person to help me I can do it. However, most of my buddies work during the day and I dont have any help, so I wanted the motor in place atleast so I could do the rest of the work by myself if need be.

I meant about fixing your head issue. Did you swap them and use new gaskets or what?

In The Pics It Looks Lik Eyou Heads Are On Backwards. You Can Swap The Plugs To The Front ( If You Can Get Them Out )

I dropped mine in and then pulled it out to put my headers in. It took me 2 hrs cause everyone that said they would help was nowhere to be found 6tranny bolts pulled it out and side ways. Slid the headers in and placed the engine back in and bolted it in. Not bad for one guy but I was sweetin my nuts off by climbing under the car to pull the engine sideways, then back out from underneath to lower the engine and...repeat that about 100 times.
It's all worth it the first time you crank the car over and it roars to life

Re: Engine is finally in the car!

I swapped the heads around. They are on correctly. I went ahead and lifted my car as as high as the jack stands would allow me to go. I then just slid the drivers side in and bolted it up, I then did the same thing with the passenger side. I was amazed at how easy they went in. No forcing or anything. I however have yet to figure out how to get all the bolts in the holes to tighten down the passenger headers. Atleast they are in place and I can get on to better things.... Like getting it running!

Just have to install the rest of the misc stuff and the clutch and tranny.
