Comp Cams 224/236 114 LSA

I was thinking about running this on my stock headed car. Would this be a good idea??? Also, what else should I upgrade when I do the cam???

And to think this whole project started with a bad water pump

I would only recommend that cam for boost or nitrous.
At the time of a cam swap springs are 100% required period unless already upgraded then you have to check compatability. Roller rockers would be a good idea. pcm tuning should be considered required as well, the car will run without but not particularly well.

I will be running a 224/236 on 112LSA if I ever get moving on the install. Who knows, nitrous might be an option at some point .

would it be wise to put this cam on a 103,000 mile car as long as i update the valvetrain???

For nitrous you're going to want a higher lobe separation angle, go for 114 or 115 LSA.

I just put in a 230/242 114 LSA cam, upgraded to Proform roller rockers, Crane dual coil valve springs, Crane titanium retainers, Comp lifters, and Comp pushrods on my 137,000 mile odometer. I see nothing wrong with putting in your cam if you swap out the valvetrain as well. Get it tuned though!

I'm running naturally aspirated right now but hope to procharge it next summer, hence the 114 LSA.

@ 120k I Sparyed 100-150 ALOT for several months, 510lbs TQ on the dyno. Then sold it to get my headers and cam. Other than breaking a stock rocker arm everything has been great so far.

Got the cam. Like it a lot. A month ago it put down 348rwhp through the auto and 489rwhp on a 150 shot. Its run the times in the sig so far.

Yes the heads are stock, minus the upgraded springs and roller rockers.

I was thinking that cam would do good on a 112* LSA and stock heads. Looks like it's doing just that. 348 is impressive through an A4 on stock heads, especially considering guys with the larger CC306 and GM847 are in the 350-360 range also.

Re: Comp Cams 224/236 114 LSA

Yes Those Times Are Very Impressive. I Still Cant Make Up My Mind Of What To Do. My Dad Is Trying To Convince Me To Just Wait And Rebuild The Motor. But If A Simple Cam Swap Can Pick Up That Much Power I Want To Do That.

He Doesnt Think Its A Good Idea To Change The Cam With The Motor Still In The Car.

Any Other Suggestions?

Re: Comp Cams 224/236 114 LSA

One more question, I plan on upgrading the pushrods, springs, rockers, and locks. Should I do the lifters??? I know this is one of the main reasons my dad doesn't want me to do the cam is because if I am going to be tearing down the engine that much to do the lifters, he thinks it would be better just to wait and pull the motor. Who is running stock lifters and how many miles are on the car??

Re: Comp Cams 224/236 114 LSA

I bought some lifters with 30k on them for $30. Thats on my cc306. I think thats fine if you aren't spinning 7k 24/7. However, even if you are running stock lifters you still have to pull them to swap the cam.

Used ones are cheap and if you can find low mile ones all the better.
