Emissions, ahhhhh!

So now My motor is gonna be coming together, but now I am being re-assigned to fort carson, colorado. In colorado you have to pass a sniffer, not just the OBDII plug in test. So any ideas on how i can pass this test with:

fully forged 383, 11.4:1 compression
LE Ported Trickflow heads
Bauer Cam lift - .6xx dur. -
Ported intake manifold
Still have a catted Y-Pipe
42lb injectors

Any ideas? Does anyone think I have a flying shot in H3ll of passing the way it is?

Thanks in advance

cats won't help with that setup bigred. either find someone to pass you, or swap cams. coming from someone in california...

Re: Emissions, ahhhhh!

Can't you just have your car registered where you are now, and keep it registered there...

I'm sure there's a Military loop-hole, cause one of my buddies is getting away
with it like this with his 383 LS1 w/ TSP GIANT CAM and NO emissions eqpt.

If you can hold off on registering, the emissions testing is supposed to sunset in Colorado Springs (El Paso County) around December.

I was talking to one of the emissions testers at the base Hobby shop on Peterson AFB and he says there won't even be a vehicle inspection requirement.

Re: Emissions, ahhhhh!

yeah Jan 7, 2007 emissions ends. But what do I do until then? And at fort carson I have to have a colorado state inspection regardless of where the vehicle is registered.

When are you arriving and how long does your current sticker last. I waited a year before changing to PAFB stickers on my cars; and I live on Peterson.
Carson has rent a cops on the gate, and when I go through they usually are more interested in their 100% ID check than anything else, they never asked about my Millington TN sticker.

This AF unit's site on Carson says they don't need FT Carson registration. However, it states that Colorado law requires an emission w/in 90 days. (How do they know when car arrived?

Good luck

Re: Emissions, ahhhhh!

If I were in your shoes I would make sure my plates, inspection, and decal; where as new as possible. Upon arrival in CO, I'd stall and delay until Jan 07.

Good luck,
Mike
