Exclamation Emergency - Rear Brakes

i'm now doing my rear brakes and having some trouble compressing the caliper. i have the tool.. but when i compress it all the way.. it compresses at a little angle. the side that won't compress all the way is the side where there's that whole spring assembly. do i have to do anything with that side? what am i missing here?

any help will be appreciated! i need my car!! thanks!

I dont think you have to mess with the spring assembely.. just tr and get the piston back to level or flush however you put it... Thne take a hammer and use the bottom end of the handle and put it in the center of the piston and push it in, you will have to use your muscles on this, then you should be set to go and pu your new pads in...... I did my brakes last week and it took me 5 mins on each side..

If you get the piston cocked in the bore, it is not going to compress all the way. Keep it straight. I just use a big c-clamp to compress it.

I compressed it as much as possible but the rotor still wont fit. The caliper is not straight b\c it looks like it is hitting the spring assembly in back of it.

I think I placed the old brake pad across the caliper and used a C-Clamp to compress the caliper.

I finally figured out why I was having so much trouble. I left the e-brake on. I wanted to kill myself after 2 hours of trying to compress the caliper and not being able to. Oh well learn with my mistakes....
