It could also be a partially plugged cat. Sometimes they cause hesitation and noise... If it eventually starts to fall flat on it's face at some higher rpm, then it's the cat or the fuel pump... Of course, it doesn't sound like the fuel pump in your case...

One interesting thought. Cats get really hot. You said you experienced the problem after going through some water. Maybe some cracking/blockage occurred.

thats a really goods thought, thoese thing take a second to get red hot. i think i'm taking it to my old highschool tomorrow. My old track coach is the autoshop teacher and he lets me use the lifts for small stuff, god i love that guy.. lol. And i'm gonna check it out. heck if it's the can, maybe i'll just get long tubes LOL then again i have 2 cats so who knows whats going on hehe. Thanks again

I was on the freeway behind an old 70s Corvette and his cat was dying. It was literally shooting flaming embers out the tail pipes. I'm talking big chunks... It was the weirdest thing.

wow, that would kinda be cool.. hehe. So do you think i should be able to visualy see a crack or a leak, or do you think i will have to tear the cat apart.. because if worst comes to worst i have no problem gutting my cat and makin some redneck straight pipes lol
