Electrical problems when raining

Hey guys, the past few days have been pretty much non-stop rain in NJ, and my cars been acting weird. When I'm at a light, the RPM's start to fluctuate (without accessories on) and if the car has been parked for a while, it cranks very odd on startup. When I turn the key after it's been sitting for a while, it cranks 1 or 2 times, stops, then cranks and starts. I am thinking its plugs/plug wires, hoping its not the Opti....any ideas?

Thanks, Keith

Sounds like plugs/wires or coil. If the opti was bad it would happen all the time. Even in nice weather... Start of with the easiest. (Coil) Then check plugs & wires unless there is a lot of miles on the plugs & wires then you might as well change them too.

Good Luck

If it was raining I am thinking you have your lights on, I had a similar problem when it only seemed to happen in the rain. I change out the alternator and that fixed it. The additional strain of just the lights on at very low RPM was just enough to cause it. Try having the Alternator checked out.

Thanks, guys, glad its not the opti....I recently (2-3 months ago) replaced the alternator, its rebuilt, so maybe its a bad one...I'll do the plugs and wires first since they need to be done anyway, and work from there.
