Re: electric water pump?

The Meziere was 199.95 from Summit, Jegs is probably the same price...I also got the Painless wiring kit for $30...Probably overkill, but its good wiring with a circuit breaker and a relay...I'm looking into the watch dog set ups, too...

Sorry to hijack your thread but i am wondering the same thing.
How good are the CSR electric pumps campared to the Meziere.
From what I was told the CSR has a 25,000hr lifespan.

It's already in the 80s and 90s here in FL, and the car never went past the 1st line on the temp gauge in traffic (~160*) I love the CSR

Not much more work that replacing a stock water pump.
Just requires a basic ability to turn a ratchet and connect wires.
One peice of advice; try not to get the optispark wet.

Here's some RTFM

I'm assuming that you can run the WP with the motor off? That would be great to be able to run it while you let your car cool off at the track. Plus, if you have a fan switch, you can turn that on too while you have the WP running.

Just run it through a relay that's on whenever your key is on, and you got it. I wanna see how much cooler this keeps my engine before spending money on a fan switch.

Re: electric water pump?

I have a csr and it works fine for me. I've had it on since last summer when i did the rest of my mods. Just make sure all your wiring is good. This cools alot better than the stock pump.

Re: electric water pump?

i have a 160* stat and a manual fan switch, and my car never gets over the 1st line niether. But i leave the fan on all the time.

At idle it actually drops even cooler, but at driving it will get right under the 1st line.

So no need for the ewp for me

Re: electric water pump?

The shop said my water pump was fine, when they did the oil leak repair.

Maybe down the road when i pull the engine for major mods, i will do a E-pump.

Re: electric water pump?

I just did an electric waterpump as well as a lot of other things to the LT1. If your going to do an electric waterpump you mine as well run a Double Roller. Thats actually my main reason for doing the electric waterpump install, cause i had no choice if i wanted to run the Cloyes Double Roller. Do NOT get the adjustable Double Roller, I made that mistake. Also note that you will need to put in TWO freeze plugs into the waterpump. The 2nd being the weep hole in the bottom of the waterpump. Which I somewhere always missed in any of the electric waterpump install threads. With the Meziere you just have to cut the fan shroud with some snips or something. Its an easy cut. For wiring it I would get the painless wiring kit. Get your signal through the PCM from the fuel pump. Even if you get rid of your AIR pump I still wouldn't use it for anything. Just seemed like a PITA to go through the AIR pump. Use the relay the kit supplys. Thats really all I can think of that gave me problems and you might need to know.

Re: electric water pump?

If your going to get a pump I recommend CSR since mine has worked flawlessly for about 40k miles and was only $160 or so from Summit.

It doesnt seem like anyone has mentioned that he had much bigger problems than a WP problem if he's leaking oil from where the WP mounts to the engine block.

PS Get Spartans Warning setup too, its the only one worth buying.

Re: electric water pump?

Leaking oil where the waterpump mounts to the motor? Isn't it more then likely coming from the timing cover. If so this would be a perfect time to install an electric waterpump as well as a double roller. Even throw in a cam.
