Electircal Issues

Hey guys,

I ran some searches and didnt find much that seemed close. The last few weeks the volt meter in my car has been reading weird. Seems mostly like when it's hot. It's shown all way down to around 11 volts. The battery is a month old red top optima.

Today I got out my multimeter and tested some things. I'm getting 14.1 volts from the alternator. 14 volts across the battery, and 13.7 at my subwoofer amp clear in the back of the car with all my accessories on. The gauge however was still showing under 13 volts. All the grounds are clean and wiring appears to be in good shape. Any ideas? Where does the gauge get it's reading from?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Electircal Issues

The gage is powered up by, and it gets its reading from the gages fuse #9 in the I/P fuse panel. It's a straight shot on the pink wire from the fuse block to the instrument panel. The ground for that gage and the others goes through C210 which is the black 4 pin connector behind the right hand kick panel and then proceeds to the engine block ground point just above the starter.
