oh ya that sounds like an extremely safe choice. Nice recommendation.

You don't need to worry about that. The only thing you need is the proper thread size and temperature rating. If you look at my drawing you will see the single wire from the temperature switch goes to one side of the light bulb. On the other side of the bulb you connect +12 Volts. When the switch closes at 195 degrees (or what ever temperature you choose) the light will come on.

In addition I added a relay that will light the bulb when ever you have the water pump turned off. In that way, if the light is on either the pump is turned off or the temp is too high.

Don't let that drawing confuse you. The #2 relay is connected with the sensor and the bulb. It's a snap.

Dave

Yeah not only that but he obviously doesn't know how big and bright the light on the Autometer is. You could land planes with that thing

Nope, you only need one that comes with the switch. The kit you can buy will only have a butt splice.

Got to Summit and look at that picture for the kit I listed. If you want that kit be sure it has the right thread size for the block. I think it does. If not, get the one for the LT1. The only difference is higher price.

Beats blowing a head gasket and possibly ruining a nice motor.

um. if the water pump fails, the temperature of the motor is not going to instantly go to 500 degrees. A light/buzzer would give you plenty of time to pull the car to the side of the road.

Shut the motor off, brakes become hard to use depending on how long (how fast you are going) it takes to empty the vacuum reserve in the booster, steering becomes difficult, no power to move the car if you had to get out of someones way, etc
