EGR removal

I've already got a set of block-off plates for my LT1, but it looks like a real nightmare removing the EGR and blocking the tube and header. I'm about to sell the plates and forget about this!!

Is there any "civilized/human" way of doing this!?!?
Anyone with past experience please give me some pointers and tips

thanks all ...laterzzz

Re: EGR removal

If you search under "EGR delete" shoebox has a how to guide with pics.

It isn't hard at all. All you have to do is remove the two bolts holding the EGR tube to the header, the two holding the EGR tubre to the motor, and the two holding the EGR pump to the motor. Attach the blockoff plates plug the vacuum lines going to the pump and your done. 10-15 minutes tops.

Re: EGR removal

Please don't post the same question on two different forums.

Hmmm, I don't remember having a guide for removing the EGR.

Re: EGR removal

Take a mirror and look behind the manifold on the passenger side. You will see all four bolts and their placements. After you see what your're dealing with, it will be sooooo much easier. If you take your time, 20-30 minutes tops. Just go in from the passenger side.

Re: EGR removal

Why use a mirror, when you can use the photos on Shoebox's website:

http://shbox.com/1/egr1.jpg

The nuts on the studs are 1/2".

I wouldn't expect to find a "how to" for the EGR removal on Shoebox's site... like me, I think he doesn't quite see the reason for EGR removal.
