EGR question...on MAC headers
EGR question...on MAC headers
i bought my MAC headers used and on the EGR tube the EGR stuff is still hooked up...the screw in metal is stationary but the smaller tube with the black piece that connects to the hose(on the car) can do a 360 degree turn..i can move it seemlessly...but the actual tube is stationary...is this ok..or should this piece not be moving..(i dont want a leak there)..thanks for the replies
Those are the AIR fittings not the EGR tube. I don't know if it should move or not but I think it does move a little. It's no big deal since it can easily be removed once the headers are on to fix or replace it if it leaks.
just got one more bolt on the front passanger side (the one connected to the bracket for the alternator) after i get this bolt off (which is impossible to get to) will i have to use the same bolt b/c doesnt that bracket have to be in the same position for the alternator to go on correctly?
thanks russ

I think you are referring to the bar type bracket that bolts to the back of the alternator and connects to the manifold?? I remember there being something similar to that. Anyway I usually never put those back brackets back on since there are always two large bolts that hold in the alternator anyway. I feel the two large bolts are sufficient. I always have a small pile of useless left over stuff that they put under the hood that isn't really needed.
Yes, you have to reuse that bolt that holds the alternator bracket. Why not put the bracket back on? It's just a little more work to get it on there, and may as well have the piece of mind. It is carzy hard to get to though. I was able to use either a closed end wrench, or a socket wrench with a swivel socket on the end to get to it.
That is the only bolt that you will have to reuse on the new headers. All of the other holes in the headers will use the new bolts.
