EGR plate question

Looking at http://www.mycamaroz28.homestead.com/ and I assume I need the 2 plate kit for a stock manifold car?

Re: EGR plate question

Depends how you want to delete the system. You could just sandwich a thin metal plate between the flange on the corrugated riser tube and the back of the intake, and the system would be "deleted" as far as being non-functional. If you want to remove the corrugated tube that goes from the exhaust manifold to the back of the intake, you need two plates, one for the exhaust manifold hole and one for the intake manifold hole. If you also want to remove the EGR valve, you need the third plate.

Re: EGR plate question

I will have to go with the 3. I am towards the end of project engine clean up, got the AIR out, the A/C out, now just need EGR.

How hard is it to un bolt that stuff with the intake still on the car? I snaked my had back there a little and it does not seem like fun.

Re: EGR plate question

It's "doable". Both the EGR and the tube are held on by studs, to all you are removing is the 2 nuts on each. I think its a 1/2" wrench required. Possible to do without seeing them. I've got to pull them out of mine, and I've got a rats nest of -AN fuel lines and a huge Weldon AFPR hanging under the cowl, blocking access.

Re: EGR plate question

David, you'll have to go with the 3 plate kit. Have fun with the EGR tube bolt holding to the exhaust manifold. Mine recently snapped (because I was tired of having a small exhaust leak from pinching the EGR tube) You have an A4, so like me, you'll end up removing your dipstick tube bracket from the back of your block, to do this, unbolt your xmember and let the tailshaft of the tranny hang down, using a few extentions, and a universal you'll be able to get to it. Then just use a ratcheting wrench on the EGR bolt.

This is where it all went downhill (or uphill) for me. The bolt broke, so I'd have no way of keeping a good seal on the exhaust port. And as you can tell from the CICC board... I'm having some fun. Pacesetter LTs w/o emissions will be on by the end of the month. Hopefully in time for IRP (March 29th).

Re: EGR plate question

I was just getting on to ask how you got the he manifold side of the pump LOL. I snaked my arm as much as I could back there just a bit and just got mad and went back inside.

I think I might pull the lines going from the EGR to the driver side of the intake and plug them up then find someone with a lift and have them do the rest of it.

No headers for me yet but I have been hearing good things about those pacesetters. Just trying to get.... something... else in the car .

Doubt my car will be out till April if I get what I want here very soon.

The 125 shot?

The (egr) exhaust manifold to intake manifold is a pita. Honestly, if your EGR is working, leave it untill you decide to get headers w/o emissions. My egr kept sticking open, so I pulled all of it and had Darren @ Harden motorsports program all the emissions codes out when he raised my speed limiter and did some other tunes.

Re: EGR plate question

I had mad Z tune my PCM and delete the EGR and all that and the car runs a TON better just at idle. I picked up a vacuum line nipple kit and pulled the line running from the egr to the egr bog thingy then the line from it to the intake and caped them. The EGR its self will stay on till the headers come. I would of had Darren mess with it but he does not have OBD II software LOL. Once I get the port job and cam i will go over to Speed inc.

Hoping on the 125 shot, waiting on an e-mail. It will either be slightly used or brand new, don't know yet. Its the only reason the car is still on jacks because once I get it I will have to pull out the BRAND new platum plugs... (please don't say anything about the N20 just yet, I want to suprise someone first :P)
