EGR Crap!

Hey, if i were to accidentally remove and block off the egr tube that goes from the back of the intake to the exhaust/headers, what would i have to do to prevent what chilton's says would cause "spark knock(detonation), engine overheating, and/or emission test failure."

I am concerned with the spark knock and overheating. how would i prevent that? program the PCM? anything you guys/gals can suggest would be great.
TIA!

Nothing happens when you block off the EGR. I dont have it anymore and theres thousands of other LT1 owners who blocked theirs off too. It will throw a code and that will need to be programmed out. My SES light has been on for a year and will be on either until I get my dyno tune this winter or the bulb burns out. Whichever comes first. Just depends on if you can live with it or not.
