Yes you can do it with the intake still on the engine. Its not hard but a pain because of the whole engine under the cowl thing. I did it with the intake on in about 20 minutes.

I also got my plates from Steve Monte which is that link posted by anaik.

All you do is remove the EGR solenoid and tube from intake to the exhaust manifold and block off the 2 holes in the intake with plates or something similar.

I made my own plates. For the tube in the back all I did is take it off cut off the tube and put a nickel in it. I used some silicone sealer to hold it in and for 5 cents it's sealed.

Question Checking the EGR

If you pull the vacuum line of the EGR is the idle supposed to stumble and the engine die, or is the idle supposed to remain the same?

if you pull the vacuum off the valve, nothing will happen. the valve works when vacuum is applied to the valve. idle wont stumble or anything.

If you wanna block off the egr the cheap way, just disconnect the vacuum line to it and plug it with a small screw . without vacuum, the valve can never open.

Very quick service by Steve at SJM Manufacturing as posted above. Two thumbs up. The plates weigh practically nothing, so you save a pound or two by getting rid of the valve and tube too.

I ordered the plates from the site listed above. Pics in sig under the "powdercoated plenum" section. They are nice. Not like you are going to see them though.
