Where are you finding the "kit"? The Trick Flow heads have 62cc combustion chambers. They are intended for blower motors, because the compression ratio is going to drop about a full point compared to the LT1 heads. Out of the box, they flow similar to the stock LT4 heads, and they can be reworked for much greater flow, and to reduce the combustion chamber volume, but that's an additional cost above what you appear to have in mind.

They will work, but the above post clearly stated why they are not a good idea on a stock motor. There are other cheaper options out there and they will yield you better gains for what you plan on doing. For example, you can get your stock heads reworked by this guy for a reasonable price www.eportworks.com

If ya are planing a 383 those heads with the 62CC chambers will work fine with a "0" deck and flat tops. Get them ported and they will make plenty of HP in a 383.
On a stock bottom end they will be lazy from the drop in compression.

Clearly he's not looking in the lt1 section. What he's looking at is a top-end kit for Gen1 350's. The 420hp one is rated on a 383 anyways.

For LT1 top end kits, you'll have to look to someone like AI or eportworks.com. The kit you are looking at will not work.

..........and seeing as the 420 was with a 383 it would be a complete waste of effort as AI or LE WILL deliver more than that for less money. Consider the ratings you see in catalogs are dyno tuned no accessory flywheel numbers tested in the same configuration I think most will agrtee with me the stock f-body LT1 will put down something over 360 . Keeping that in mind that kit really looks bad even if it did fit

Those heads can be made to flow in the 330 range so it seems the 420 was on out of the box heads.
If ya had 330 CFM on yours with the right set up ya could put down a LOT more than 360 'cause 330 will make 678FWHP with everything else right.

FWIW stock headed cam only car's are putting down 350rwhp w/ associated equip. .. So to say w/ a set of trick flow's for LT1's which are essentially the same head as they're Gen 1 sbc stuff i don't think 420fw is out of the question... but what do i know.. i got some garbage going on my 396...

No 420fwhp is easy but 420rwhp with a 350LT1 takes a little more work but easily achieved with the right heads/cam and dynotune. I just put the new Trickflows on my 355" LT1 but they are heavily worked and will have some #'s very soon. Later Clint
