Edelbrock Performer LT1 Cylinder Heads questions?

I just won these on Ebay for $600 shipped.http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
They are new and I have a 100% stock engine with 100K & nothing done to it. The rest of the car is far from stock thought. What do I need? I want to get some 1.6 roller rockers Comp Cam Pro Magnums. What gaskets and others parts are necessary to do this job right. I don't need the best but don't want chap either. Should I get the 7/16 push rods along with the 7/16 rockers? How long with this take? I have done all the mods to my car so I have some experiece with the LT1's. Last question what makes these heads better than stock?

for your last question, id have to say nothing. stock heads are just as good, you should have taken the 600 and put it into your stock heads and they would have whooped the edelbrocks. the edelbrock heads have meager flow and even back up at .600 lift. peak flow at .500 is only about 240cfm. only about 10-15cfm better then stock. their new RPM XT heads are much better and are based off of LT4

^ thats coming from the company.. which means nothing

gmhtp or hot rod added edelbrocks head/hotcam/air gap intake on an lt1 and i think it picked up like 40 hp or something pathetic like that on the engine dyno

no wonder people think the lt1 is a dog..

Wonder what an LT1 gains with JUST fresh springs, bet 500rpms and 24hp is pretty close.

Put it this way in their own marketting "data" they claim 396 flywheel HP from their heads and cam package, if you instead have someone good port your stock heads you can hit that number or a good bit higher at the rear wheels.

IMO Edelbrock has lost their integrity and are now willing to sell stock equivalant parts and pretend they are performance.

Maybe send them to Lloyd Elliot for a touch up on the heads. That way you can still be driving your car while these heads are being worked on.

To anwser your last question, I dout its very much edelbrock heads/LT1 parts are known for being "junk". Like others have said, should of dumped $600 in your stock heads.

I was not holding the Edelbrock claim up as an example of a GOOD product.... I was showing him that even Edelbrock only claims 29HP..... and its got stock intake runner volume, stock valves, etc. I was attempting - apparently I failed - to show that even Edelbrock doesn't think much of them.

I never thought I would get big HP numbers with these. I have been looking and never see new heads that have been fully assemebled for cheap. I figure if they make 24 horse power or more plus the fact my old heads have such high mileage that it is worth the price. Ebay has used heads that have been rebuilt by strangers and they run 300+ so this seemed like a nice improvement and not a hugh expense. This will put me in the low 12's and that is fast enough for me right now. I assume in 6 months I will want 11's and then 10's.

The stock heads are the right place to start for the overwhelming majority of us, whether we want a reliable daily driver or a 10 second car or anything in between.

I have similar suspicions. I have always wanted to see before and after dyno results for a stock LT1 with simply changing to decent springs...
