ECM Code 36 High Res Failure
I JUST PAID $800 because my optispark crapped out on me and I had the mechanic replace it and the plug wires.
Tonight I'm driving home and <stumble> SES light.
I get a code 36.
But get this, the mechanic said "Your engine vibrates something fierce and your opti was busted wide open, you need to sell
that car or have an engine rebuilt, or this is bound to happen
again."
Can a vibrating motor really break optis?

Do you have any engine mods?
If your engine was still vibrating, did the mechanic even replace anything?
Why would he give you the car back if it was not right?
Was the complete opti replaced?
Sounds like your "mechanic" was setting you up for more $$ in repairs.

The only mods to the car is a flowmaster muffler. (Even has a stock air intake!
)
Yes, the mechanic replaced the opti and the plug wires.
I know this because when it busted my car sounded like
one of those old Model-T cars, popping and smoking like an
MF with no ability to go beyond 2000RPM, I thought my engine was GONE. But nope, it was the opti.
I've had the car for two weeks since then and it's been running fine till tonight. And he's right, when you rev the engine pretty good it doesn't just vibrate it resonates. But it's done
that for as long as I can remember.
Could it be that he put one of those POS opti's in there?
Or can a cam vibration mess em up?
Problem is, he is in Arkansas I'm in oklahoma. I
cleared the codes and it ran better for a little while.
Hopefully it will get me to work tomorrow.
(pray for me!)

P.S. Anyone want to buy it for $4300 as is?
