Easy question prolly

Does it make sense to get a 58mm throttle body and a ported intake for a engine thats pretty stock besides exhaust and long tubes. Thanks guys

How come? I was thinking of doing the same thing too. What should the first major upgrade be? I'm looking to get headers first but was thinking because of the price (150) to do the TB first.

Because without other mods that can make use of the increased inflow, there is no real benefit. Even a stock TB can handle a lot of HP.

Re: Easy question prolly

I'm making almost 500HP at the flywheel on 381ci LT1. The shop that built the engine was able to show me - ON THE ENGINE DYNO - that I did not need the 58mm throtle body I had given them to install. At 77% throttle opening, the air flow maxed out. Opening the throttle further did not increase HP - the engine was getting all the air it needed with a throttle opening roughly equivalent to a 52mm TB.

Looks nice, though.......

Re: Easy question prolly

When my car was stock I put the Holley 58mm throttle body on it and the driveability went out the window. The car was a pig on take-off. I drove around for a few weeks and decided to put the stocker back on and did headers and cold air intake. (Highly recommend). Save your money and do air intake and exhaust first.
