rough idle and boggs when given throttle
rough idle and boggs when given throttle
1995 Z28 M6
drove the car last week and on way home temp gauge shot up 245 but then when got home i let it idle for a bit and it went back down to 180. Wasnt sure what to think of this so parked car. Next time i went to drive it the header had a bad leak (Old gasket) and the egr tube was loose. fixed tube and tried to tighten header, leak is less now but still needs new gasket. now the car idles rough and when i give it gas it wants to die. wierd to me now is that every time since then when i go to start it and turn the key I can here the air pump turn on then off. B4 I never heard the air pump. Could i poss have a bad egr causing this or what else.

Re: rough idle and boggs when given throttle
well decided to take off the valve cover and found 1 of the rockers was completely off the spring and pushrod. put back on and adjusted lash and it imediately got loose after i started the car.
This would mean i have a crushed lifter correct?
I have some stock lifters from another lt1 i have would it be ok to just throw 1 of them in there

Re: rough idle and boggs when given throttle
I followed the process on shbox.com. the rocker in question was the 8 intake rocker so i turned the engine until the exhause lifter started to come back up.
Then i adjusted to 0 lash and added 1/2 to 3/4 turn
