easiest way too drain coolant

swapping optis in a week or 2 (again lol)
i have an electric water pump, is there a way i can use that too my advantage too drain the coolant?
would i be best off too drain it from the block with the pump running, assuming the thermostat is open?

anyone have any tricks to draining it without a huge mess that i usually end up with?

There are block drains on both sides of the block.Pass side is the knock sensor the drivers side is in the same place with a pipe plug.
Use a 6 point socket and 1/2" drive ratchet on the drivers side it is tight and a good open end on the knock sender.
The radiator has a valve.

you'll be replacing the hoses with new ones anyway while you have the system open, right? Just cut the bottom hose

Pull the bottom hose off, and have a catch pan in position. You'll be surprised how fast it will drain.
