Re: lt-1 to lt-4 converstion

I was thinking about this kit also. However, I have come to the conclusion to save my money on the kit. Instead I'm going to pick up just the hotcam kit without the heads and intake manifold.

I do however, have questions here. First off should i buy the hotcam kit that i found at SummitRacing, or should i buy just the cam and piece it together myself. IE RR, springs, locks, retainers.

PS: I know this is a "baby" cam. However, i have to stay emissions friendly around here.

For the price of the LT4 kit you could get some Nice AI stuff and put down way way more power.

Don't know who you guys (Z95m6 & Antz97ZNJ) were directing your replys to but if they were for me i just want to make sure you guys saw the "PS". I have to stay "emissions friendly" here.

There are some emission friendly cams that have put down good numbers on this board....Do a search and im sure you will find some good info. Also i guess it depends on which kind of emissions you have to pass.

It was directed towards you. Adding some professionally ported heads will add way more power than the stock LT4 castings. It also won't make effect your emissions. The Cam is what will get you in trouble.

Ok. So a local tuner said he can get me to pass with a hotcam. He said it was difficult but he has never had one not pass. You're saying that i should get mild head work done to make better numbers with that cam? That won't effect what I put out at the sniffer?

Re: lt-1 to lt-4 converstion

just do what i did, just go to a private shop and introduce the mechanic to good old uncle benjamin. has not failed me yet. they are right though you can get an after market setup for cheaper, just make sure that the parts comply with each other. but if you wanna be safe and dont mind tossing the extra salad, go with the LT4 set up.

Holy thread hijack RayRay...I see your new.

First rule of common courtesy: If you're question isn't the same as the original posters, do a search to see if it's already been covered, if not, then create a NEW thread, don't come into someone elses and hijack that subject with your own questions.

AS for the ORIGINAL question: Don't waste your money, plenty more to be had for less.

First off, I'm not new. Just been away from the whole message board thing for a while and do not remember my name or password. Second off, I wouldn't say I "hi-jacked" this thread. The original poster has not said anything and he has not been on here with any other questions. Also if you look at my first reply I do say something about the original topic. Furthermore, my question deals with the kit, does it not? I'm pretty sure what I want to do is what the kit has without, the heads and intake. I'm sorry if for some reason you felt offended by this. But I do not need your ignorant comments (no offense).

Also I have done a search and have come up with nothing. The little bit I could find did not answer my questions. I'm sure most people would agree (since my topic is highly related) to add to this thread instead of start a new one). Thanks anyway though.

Different topic, trans9_5am - I just got done doing a few searches on the topic "emissions friendly cams" etc. and have found nothing. I guess I'll just have to go to company webpages and try to find one. Wouldn't want to hijack this thread anymore

Re: lt-1 to lt-4 converstion

The tribe has spoken.

The thread was about an LT4 -> LT1 conversion. Your topic of conversation was the hotcam kit.

Have a great day.

As was stated to the original poster, look into Lloyd Elliot heads/cams or Advanced Induction heads/cams, they are both very good names in the LT1 world.

Re: lt-1 to lt-4 converstion

Check with Comp Cams to find you an emission friendly cam. If you ask me to keep the cost down, just spend some money with your stock heads. (only if they are aluminum) I ported and polished my heads and put 2" intake/1.6" Ferrea race valves in my heads and I guarantee they will flow more than the LT4 heads. Besides the LT4 only had the extra compression, roller rockers, and knock sensor. The stock LT4 had 330 HP not 400+ like this kit says. If you are not going to add a blower I would bump the compression up to make it more efficient. I bumped mine to 11:1 and it smells good and hits harder. Good luck.
