early/late lt1?

I am planning on building a 383 this winter and was wondering what the differences between the 94 and 95 block are and if you can just change the timing cover opti. I have a 95 with a buddy that has a 94 that needs rebuilding and would like to be able to pull and install motors in the same weekend. Any info is grately appreceated.
thanks in advance,
duals

1994- nonvented opti (cam dowel is different, timing cover different)

1995- vented opti

1994 dash harness different from 1995 dash harness.

Year of the engine harness/pcm must match year of dash harness.

everything else should be the same...

yeah, 1994 block... 1995 timing cover/timing gears, 1995 opti, and you have to alter the dowel on the cam to complete the vented swap.
