Has anyone ran into this problem with an Eagle crank? The hub slides right on to the crank snout. Not a very good interference fit there!

 

I have heard of it before. Seems Scat has better QC than Eagle.

 

Fortunately I did not have a problem like that with mine. My problem was on the other end. I had to order an oversized bushing from Eagle (known problem) and had to have my flywheel reamed out a few thousandths in order to fit.

 

So what do I do? Crank the bolt down and hope for the best? Have a keyway machined in the hub and run a key?

 

Nope.. I'd call them and tell them to replace it. Did you buy it or did you have a shop buy it for you?

 

Funny thing is...it's like the last thing from my motor being completely assembled.

 

measure both and see what you have....

You may be able to do something. I have seen alot of the eagle too big and we had to hone out the balancers. Never seen on too small. Thats the only thing I have ever seen as far as quality

 

If you are still interested in a keyed hub, Thunder Racing sells them.

 

I'll check it again tomorrow, but I think it was .002 smaller than a stock crank.

 

that should not be enough for it to just slip on.

I have an ATI, If I was you I would try another hub or possibly call ATIor somewhere....measure what you have and let them work something out since its together. I have always had to use an installer on mine its so tight.

 

You pay for it in the end when you buy cheap chinese junk.

 

I mic'd them again. Stock crank is 1.2465" and the Eagle is 1.245". So it's a thousandth and a half smaller.

Stock crank is also inside where it's warm, so it might actually be a half thou smaller than it's showing.

Hub will go halfway on the stock crank and ALL the way on the Eagle. And I do have to push a little for it to go all the way on there. It doesn't just fall on it. Not a sloppy fit, or anything like that.

 

Mine was very tight on the eagle snought - little worried about breaking a bolt everytime I put the hub back on. I have had more bad jobs done by machine shops than I have bad quality from Eagle parts.

That doesn't sound terrible.

Wonder if your hub has been altered at all. Mine wouldn't slide onto my stock crank at all other than the very first little bit of lip.

 

The stock crank it came off of was a pretty tight fit.

 

My hub would only barely go on a 1/4 of an inch on my factory crank. It is the same with the one I am running now. I would get someone to measure their hub and post the specs. Your hub might be out a little.
