Dyno vid and some numbers.
355 LT4 SR dyno vid and numbers.
Its been a long time in the works here but I finally got the car out for tuning. Just in case you do not know the set up:
355 LT4 SR
Eagle crank and rods
TEA 220cc Trick Flow heads, 2.08"/1.60". flowed 317 @ 700
custom home ported LT4 intake
JE domed n2o pistons, 12.4:1 static
Cam Motion SR- 263/270 .674"/.686", 112+4
Jessel SS shaft mounts
Hooker LT's, custom Y pipe
CPT race trans with a Yank 4k converter
Fresh Moser 12 bolt, 4.30's riding on 27" Hoosiers.
We had a hard time getting it to idle even half way right. But after several hours of tinkering and a new Map sensor it now starts and idles on its own at 1000 rpm and maintains 6"-7" vacuum
First couple pulls were ok decent. Needed alot of fuel to be added, once we had the fuel somewhat in the ballpark we worked on teh converter. Not sure what the problem was but no matter what we did it would not lock up for the dyno pulls. Oh and its advertised as a 4000 but its obviously stalling higher behind the new motor. It was built for a 325 hp motor and now its got an extra 150 hp going thru it
. Every time from 3500, slap the throttle and it flashed to 5500... makes for a real fun ride but it makes an ugly lookin graph.
Anyway, final numbers were 401/330 thru an unlocked 4000+ stall... I built this motor with a 7000 rpm max in mind and it pulled hard all the way to 7k. Peak numbers were at 6800 so I think it would love to turn faster. I'm going to limit it to 7k though.
Definately needs a new breather system or a vacuum pump on the crank case.

well like I said we couldn't get it to lock... it was causing havoc with the dyno. We brought it up to 3500 and when we went to WOT it would flash to 5500! The dyno can't accuratly calcuate the TQ like that. They are just numbers... the seat-o-meter also tells me its not an accurate number.

401/330... not trying to be smart or anything but its not going back on a dyno just to get better numbers. If the converter would have locked it probably would have been 450hp and ??? tq.
The tq numbers are low because the converter flashed to 5500. Ever notice how a dyno shows tq high and goes low, and the hp starts low then goes high? They always cross at 5250 rpm. Well the converter flashes to 5500 and the dyno software knows that it cant calculate peak tq above 5250 so the numbers are not right for tq. my dyno graph is full of wiggly lines because it started out above 5250 rpm. The HP numbers are closer but with the converter locked it would be a real 1:1 ratio and I bet the number would be 40-50 hp higher no problem.
Its a beast. I am so far happy with it. I posted the vid cause I know there were alot of people looking for dyno numbers and a vid of my 3 year project.
Its a 10 sec car if I can get it to hook.
