LE2 heads.... Combustion chamber size?

Hey guys, I am building up a 355, and the pistons I plan on using say they will make 11:1 give or take, with a 58cc chamber. The problem is Ive never seen any combustion chamber numbers on LE2s, which I am planning to use.... I know someone knows this... the pistons are SRP flat tops, +.030, -5cc, and for 6in rods (scat). Will these be acceptable with some 6in Scat rods, stock crank, and LE2 h/c?? thanks in advance

Stock LT1's are 54CC's. Lt4's are 58.
Don't worry about the static compression, figure your DCR when ya get the cam spects.

Re: LE2 heads.... Combustion chamber size?

bob,

You will want to have the block zero decked and run a standard Fel Pro 1074. That's the easiest thing to do and right in the design parameters of the motor. So you are on the right track already with your parts

IF the block is just decked then measure how far in the hole the pistons are and then we can recomend a gasket for you. If they are .010" in the hole then you still have a few good choices to get everything together correctly.

Is it true that the LE2 combustion chamber is 56-57cc?

The only way to know for sure is to check it yourself, or have someone do it for you, if the information didn't come with the heads.

My LE2 heads were right at a 56cc combustion chamber. Stock LT1's are 58cc by the way. The only thing that scared my was the threaded end of the 7/16 rocker studs protruded into the intake ports. Scared the hell out of me until I called Lloyd and was told that was normal. Just make sure to use thread sealant when installing the rocker studs. 205 cc intake ports you know.

Heads Up! is responsible for the exacting machining on these cylinder heads. Typically, an LT1 combustion chamber will carry a bit more than 53 cc's in stock form. The blueprint spec calls for a minimum allowable chamber volume of 51.9 cc's. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...1_engine_info/

yeah he got it backwards...
a simple case of "lex-disica" I'm sure.

The chambers on my LE2 LT4's ended up
@ 57 cc's from the 54.4

The one's I have personally CC'ed have been in the area of 54CC's.
Some were off of Camaro's that had not been apart.
Seem's as if CHP thinks they are 54 also.

After talking to Lloyd about this I would have to agree with 1racerdude.

So the LE2's are 54cc or are you talking about the stockers?

The stockers are 54cc. Custom heads have custom chambers.

But are usually milled .010, so ask the porter or check them yourself.

I beleive Lloyd's heads end up with 58cc chambers actually.
Which put me in around 11.10:1

If they were 54cc, I'd be at 11.7:1 (which ain't gonna happen on 91 octane pump gas)
