Dyno Question
Dyno Question
Here's the deal. I want to go to Thunder Racing and get a N/A pull as well as a pull with my 150 shot to see where I'm at as far as power and a/f ratio. However, I was thinking today about how my car still has the 118 mph speed limiter on it. On a dyno, I'm pretty sure they run the M6 in 4th gear because of the 1:1 ratio. Will my car hit 118 on that dyno? I ask because if it does hit the speed limiter while I'm spraying, it cuts fuel and motor goes boom. Any ideas or suggestions?
I thought GM had knocked off the speed limiters on the F-Bodys by 97........
If you have the 155 MPH speedo you shouldn't have a limiter.
But yes, if it's there, you'll definitely hit it on the dyno.

I have a '97 and also had the 118 limiter because I bought the car with the standard tires, not the Z rated ones. I didn't realize at the time that it meant that my speed would be limited. The speedo is still the 155 mph speedo.
Yes, you will run into problems on the dyno if you have the speed limiter in it. You can have www.madz28.com program it out for $75, along with other stuff.
Or if someone has a hypertech programmer in your area for a '97, they might be able to help you out.

Does an HPP take out the speed limiter with the base program?
I have not done anything other than the HPP and on my dyno runs
the car goes up to 130 without any speed limiter. The rev limiter
works great though. I have programmed it with the HPP and it was
right on the money each time.
