Dyno numers for XE 230/236 with stock heads?

I guess what I was actually trying to say is basically, that cam works BEST with pretty good ported heads. I think he would gain more from a smaller duration less lift cam on stock heads, since hes not flowing enough air to use up the duration and lift. I dont want to make this sound like Im an expert, Im basically just relaying info from other posts, I know nothing about this cam personally.

Hehe as a matter of fact I'm doing this setup on my friend's car this thursday its a XE230/236 on a 112lsa, stock heads, stock rockers, comp 986-16 springs, K&N, Mac headers, new Crane lifters, & we're tunning it than going to a Dyno, so I'll post the results

The 230/236 should prove to have more gains than the cc305, hotcam, or xe224/230 bcuz
1) If used with 1.5 rockers it wouldnt have more lift than the stock heads can take. Stock heads will lose flow #s above .5 lift.
2) For the obvious reason that it has more duration than the other 3 cams.
I would suggest though that it be on a 114lsa to keep from having to rev the **** out of it to get max power and bcuz it will move the peak power down, compared to a closer lsa, and will make the cam more streetable.

Gotchya, even though I have no interest to do so, or even think it would help, is it possible to do that with the stock setup?

I believe you would have to have the aftermarket timing chain to advance or retard the stock setup. I also doubt that you will get much gain on that cam by retarding it. Think about it. If you are going to shift the RPM that you make power up and loose driveablility, I think you would be better off just getting a cam with slightly more duration. Then you should at least gain power with the loss in drivability instead of just shifting the rpms that it occurs at. I dont recall seeing what heads you will be using, but I hope it is not the stock ones.

I was actually the first person on the board to run this cam. Some people say that it is to big, but in my opinion, it really dosen't act like a large cam. The powerband with a 112 LSA is very good in the lower RPM range, and would not reccomend the 114 LSA unless you are spraying or going blown. The whole design behind the XE grind is to provide better lower RPM power. You can get cams on whatever LSA you want, but comp actually on makes 2 XE lobes. One is much more extreme than the other, and requires better valvetrain equipment. The more extreme lobes are more or less custom order.
I run the standard 3300 series XE lobe. The same one listed on everyones website now days. The 3100 series XE lobes are a little more Xtreme over the nose, which is a little harder on valvetrain, but kinda mimicks a solid roller. So power will be better, but you have to watch the high lift. Most will have to run 1.5 rockers as not to have piston/valve clearence problems. Check out the diffrences here.
