hey truedual. i just wanted to ask...what's the deal with not wanting any sort of headers? you went to the extent of installing a cam, springs and rockers and even added true duals but you haven't touched your stock manifolds Any reason for that?

Im not trying to come across as an a$$, I was just curious.

No problem on the question. It is a very strange desire, but I have had my
cars with headers, and have really enjoyed them. For my current car, I want
to keep it looking and sounding very close to stock, including passing all CA
smog requirements. So far I think I have accomplished that. Also, I feel that
my exhaust system is getting me 15 rwhp over any comparible system with
catalytics and full smog. This helps make up for the no-header handicap.

Considering how quiet my car is, and the cast iron manifolds, I'm really happy
with the 293 rwhp. If all goes well I may get that up in the 320-330 range on
Friday.

Is it just a standard 4% calibration difference or does it vary depending on the actual conditions of the test? Good numbers through the manifolds. I actaully have run a 12.786@106.72 @950DA through the stock manifolds and a single highflow cat. I think I nedded the tune to get the most out of the longtubes. Good #'s to you as well trualdual. The only maijn difference is the torque Torque is GOOD. My car is also putting it down through the moser 12bolt w/4.10's

This is from a response to a question I asked a Superflow contact:

SAE -- The SAE standard applied is a modified version of the SAE J1349 standard of June 1990. Power is corrected to reference conditions of 29.23 InHg (99 kPa) of dry air and 77 F (25°C). This SAE standard requires a correction for friction torque. Friction torque can be determined by measurements on special motoring dynamometers (which is only practical in research environments) or can be estimated. When estimates must be used, the SAE standard uses a default Mechanical Efficiency (ME) value of 85%. This is approximately correct at peak torque but not at other engine operating speeds. Some dynamometer systems use the SAE correction factor for atmospheric conditions but do not take mechanical efficiency into consideration at all (i.e. they assume a ME of 100%). SuperFlow uses a more sophisticated algorithm for calculating friction torque, based on a summary of thousands of friction power tests performed by the automotive industry. This proprietary algorithm estimates friction torque as a function of piston speed and engine displacement.

STP -- The STP (also called STD) standard is another power correction standard determined by the SAE. This standard has been stable for a long time and is widely used in the performance industry. Power is corrected to reference conditions of 29.92 InHg (103.3 kPa) of dry air and 60 F (15.5°C). Because the reference conditions include higher pressure and cooler air than the SAE standard, these corrected power numbers will always be about 4 % higher than the SAE power numbers. Friction torque is handled in the same way as in the SAE standard. Once again, this means the STP corrected power displayed by your SuperFlow test system will be more accurate than power numbers obtained using a default Mechanical Efficiency of 100% or 85%.

Actually the bolt-on record is 11.94 @ 111.5 by Sar2K with a 6spd. The 12.48@110.5 was the previous record....I know this since the 12.48 was done by me...hehe.

Sar2k is an auto with a BIG stall converter....So then i guess you still have the 6spd record..until the 11 th

Your right...well thats cool. Guess I still have the record. That was done about 5-6 years ago. Just typical bolt-ons, 3715lb race weight.

You'll have some good competition for that record pretty soon. Look for KreinMC's dyno numbers/track times. He should be running pretty well.

Good numbers.

Re: Dyno numbers for bolt on only 95 Z28

is that with headers mine put down 310 348 pounds of torque with 342s then went 410s and my opti started to misfire up top and it put down 298 330 pounds of torque, i guess you do loose power with gears..
