Re: Dyno Guesses for Saturday/Prep Questions

I am hearing about 310 with my setup and my heads aren't ported... so 320 is my guess. I'm dynoing my car tomorrow :-D

Re: Dyno Guesses for Saturday/Prep Questions

Its official, slowest head/cam car EVAR!

The first 2 runs it wasn't reading my rpm's right so I put down 180/296, then on the 3rd run with an optical thing I put down 276.5/292 it just keeps getting richer as the rpm's climb, so ima send this to Madz28 so he can tune that, but kinda sad about the HP numbers.

Re: Dyno Guesses for Saturday/Prep Questions

Garret has stock manifolds.

Actually, I'm surprised it put such low numbers. That's about all it will do though, it seems. There is probably another 10-13 RWHP in the air fuel ratio and it looks like you were getting some (false) knock retard as well, but even with those things corrected I think you still won't touch 300s. That is pretty disappointing but definetely not unexpected with those super restrictive stock manifolds.

Don't say that!! haha

I am hoping for numbers similar to that without ported heads... actually, people were telling me 310rwhp... I also saw a CC305 put about 303rwhp on stock manifolds... something seems wrong there.

I didn't realize it was stock manifolds. I hear all this guff about cam on stock manifolds being a bottleneck (and from results I've seen I wouldn't doubt it), but how about with cam AND heads? How much you think he could pick up from throwing on some headers at this stage of modding? Just curious, thanks.

Hmm...now maybe you will believe that headers are a prerequisite to a cam/head swap. You must get out all the extra hp you are making. A motor is an air pump, more in, more needs to go out. I would think it put down such low numbers BECAUSE of the ported heads. It is probably hurting more than helping.

Re: Dyno Guesses for Saturday/Prep Questions

Well I think it doesn't matter if you have heads and cam or even a 383 on stock manifolds.. if it's a bottleneck, no matter how big of a bottle you have, it will still flow the same numbers. Just think of what a semi clogged cat will do on your car.... 275 HP suddenly felt like 10 on my '95. (it was still stock) Barely could drive 10 MPH and it wasn't even clogged all the way.

Im not going to jump down your throat since you obviously didn't read the whole thread. My head/cam upgrade wasn't planned, it was due to a lifter failing and taking out my cam and then got a killer deal on the heads while I had the motor apart.

I was hoping for better numbers even on the stock manifold, I knew going in that my stock manifolds would hold me back, but I didn't think it would be that bad. I will be doing pacesetter long tubes as soon as I decide what to do with the rest of the exhaust.
