Dyno Experts Inside....

I've seen quite few dyno charts posted here, and they all seem to start at 3000-4000 rpm. Is there any reason why an LT1 can't start it's dyno pull at say, 1000 or 1500 rpm?

The reason I ask is that the stock torque peak is very low, and the LT1 does a great job as a daily driver, and provides great acceleration even when short-shifted. Adding a cam, headers etc. will obviosley help high-rpm HP, but are we giving away much of the LT1's low-end grunt?

Is there some physical limitation to the Dynojet that requires such a high start speed?

Here's a dyno that starts around 1500rpm, off a Dynojet. There's no problem doing it, at least with a manual tranny. In an auto, it would downshift if you stomped the gas at 1500.

Well most graphs i see start from around 2000rpm. When i did my pull i did it from 1500rpm. I think the guys that are making a lot of power just start at around 3000+ because that is where they are gonna be making most of there power and 4000+ is gonna be there usuable range.

I didn't think about the auto tranny kickdown, thanks. I forget that there are a LOT of auto F-bodys out there.
