This may be a dumb question,but what is the purpose of the snorkel that is attached to the air intake bellow?I am referring to the bellow that attaches to the throttle body,and the snorkel that is attached to it.

 

it quites the air intake noise. You can buy a plug or just make one like i did.

 

I heard it was ther to quite the A/C system down. 1LE intakes don't have them. You can make a nice cap out of Pert or Clarion bottle.

It quiets the sound of the high speed air being sucked through the intake system.

 

To tell you the truth, after I capped mine I noticed no difference in noise what so ever. It does clean up the engine bay a little though.

 

I did a search a found out people are using shampoo bottles such as herball ess,pert plus,and head and shoulders to cap off the silencer.Funniest thing ive ever heard.No I take that back the ice on the intake trick is the best one ive heard.
