dumb question?

I was wondering what a cutout exactly is and whats its purpose and how does it help the car?

I know it's before the muffler. Sorry for the dumb question!

You can place it anywhere before the muffler. Most people do it near the passenger seat. It provides a clear route for exhaust to flow w/o going through any muffler. The sound is much louder and you get some horses b/c it isn't going through any muffler at all.

a cutout decreases back pressure which increases performance and noise.
